Our book displays are always changing! The displays around the Information Desk on the 1st floor are spotlighting National Hispanic Heritage Month and Library Card Sign-Up Month (a little fun was had with that one.) On the 3rd floor landing, outside Adult Fiction, you can find fiction based on Greek mythology. Also, keep an eye on Genre Starter Pack display on the right hand wall of that same floor, currently highlighting Literary Fiction.

The books on these displays rotate as they get checked out and we have many books waiting to fill empty spots! If you don't see one you're interested in, or are interested in books from the monthly themes we are not displaying, ask library staff for assistance. You can also head to Minerva to search our catalog directly -- https://minerva.maine.edu/search~S41

Events for 9/14 - 9/19. The 4th annual Community Collaborative takes down at Head of Falls Park on Front Street in Waterville starting at noon tomorrow (Tuesday)! Come down and say "hi" to library staff and take a look at all the other wonderful resources.

Mid-Week Matinee, a new once-a-month movie program for kids and their families starts this Wednesday. And the writing tutors have returned for a new semester, this time on Thursday and Saturday.

Speaking of Saturday, visit the library with a few shiny trinkets because the flock will be gathering at the Crow Party!

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and thanks to a proclamation by Governor Janet Mills, it is also officially Maine Library Card Sign-Up Month! In celebration, the State Library and Maine State Parks are partnering to offer a special day of free admission to participating state parks.

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, show your library card at the gate of any participating Maine State Park or historic site and get FREE admission for the whole day! Bring the family, pack a picnic, grab a good book, and even bring your (leashed) furry friend for a day of exploring Maine’s natural beauty.

Just one more advantage to having a library card with Maine libraries!

To explore Maine State Parks, including maps and locations, visit https://www.maine.gov/dacf/parks/index.shtml.
