A quick community reminder from Waterville Valley Public Safety:

Over the past several weeks, two raccoons in Waterville Valley have tested positive for rabies. While there is no need for alarm, this is a good time to take a few simple precautions to protect your pets, your family, and our community.

Please keep dogs under your control and do not allow them to roam freely. Keeping pets leashed or supervised reduces the chance of an unexpected encounter with a raccoon or other wild animal. Please also make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations.

Give raccoons, foxes, skunks, bats, and other wildlife plenty of space. Never approach, handle, or attempt to capture a wild animal that appears sick, injured, unusually aggressive, confused, or otherwise behaving strangely.

If you notice an animal behaving unusually or have concerns about a possible rabies exposure, please contact Waterville Valley Public Safety so we can evaluate the situation and determine what steps may be needed.

A little extra awareness goes a long way. Thank you for helping us keep our residents, visitors, and pets safe.

Word is out! I am pleased to introduce the NEW Engine 2! Its been over three years in the works and the wait is now over. We are happy with Desorcie and E-One, they were great to work with. This is the first time in department history that all apparatus are all the same make, E- ONE. We will be training and outfitting the engine over the next couple weeks before it is ready for full service. Thank you to our community for your continued support!
