A portion of 21st Street West near Evolution Power Sports will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, September 14. Evolution Power Sports will remain accessible during the closure.

The City of Watertown will be improving the gravel road section of 21st Street West with a blotter surface.

Drivers needing to access the area south of the closure should use 16th Street West or 23rd Street West. Electronic message boards will be in place to direct traffic.

The road is expected to reopen by Thursday, September 24, weather permitting.

🍂 Only rain down the drain!

As fall clean-up gets underway, Wendle has a reminder to be mindful of what may wash into our storm drains.

Whether you’re **washing your vehicle, cleaning gutters, draining a swimming pool, or raking the yard**, remember that runoff can carry leaves, debris, chemicals, and other pollutants into our stormwater system and eventually our local waterways.

FYI: Chip seal work has been completed on 14th Avenue between Highway 81 and 19th Street. Crews swept the roadway today to remove loose rock.

Temporary pavement markers will be in place until permanent lane striping can be completed, which is expected within the next two weeks.

Traffic will continue as usual during the remaining work. Drivers should slow down and use caution near crews and equipment.

Maple Street between Kemp Avenue and First Avenue will be closed later this afternoon for Lake Area Technical College’s Rock the Block event. Please plan to use an alternate route.

Our friends at Watertown Municipal Utilities will be doing maintenance to the Water Tower on 14th Ave, including repainting it. You may notice a large curtain over it, that is to prevent overspraying. The project will conclude early Oct, weather permitting.

Watertown Municipal Utilities contractors will soon begin maintenance on the water storage tank near 14th Avenue NW and 4th Street NW. The tank will be sandblasted and repainted, and a large curtain will be installed around it to contain paint chips and overspray.

Site preparation begins this week, with maintenance expected to start the week of September 14. The project will take about three weeks, weather permitting. Equipment and trucks will be parked along 4th Street NW, and nearby sidewalk access may be affected. Water service will continue, but slight pressure changes are possible.
