On Feb. 3, we honor and remember the selfless acts of Lt. George Fox, Lt. Alexander Goode, Lt. Clark Poling, and Lt. John Washington during the sinking of the U.S.A.T Dorchester. While the ship was sinking, after being hit by a German U-boat torpedo Feb. 3, 1943, the four chaplains stayed on the ship comforting the wounded and directing others to safety. The four chaplains were last seen praying together, while the ship went down. May we always remember the sacrifice the chaplains gave and the 672 lives lost. ❤️🤍💙

We also lost another ALA member last week - Sandy Sullivan. One of our members noticed this post and it so worthy of sharing - what a wonderful, beautiful wreath made by the children.

Sandy volunteered her time and talents to many organizations - she will be dearly missed.

We are excited to announce that Brandie Hanson has been confirmed as County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO) following approval by the Jefferson County Board at its January 13 meeting.

“What I have enjoyed more than anything in this work is having the tools and network to weave together solutions that give veterans the support to move forward through difficult times and thrive,” said retiring CVSO Yvonne Duesterhoeft. “I’m certain that Brandie comes to this role with more knowledge and experience than I had 19 years ago when I started. She has the heart, passion, and skills to advance our mission in important ways.”
