If you're attending the World Cup at Boston Stadium, the Fan Festival at City Hall Plaza in Boston, or if you’re not attending events, on match days, travelers may want to consider alternate travel routes or work remotely if that’s an option on:

Saturday, June 13, 2026
Tuesday, June 16, 2026
Friday, June 19, 2026
Tuesday, June 23, 2026
Monday, June 29, 2026
Thursday, July 9, 2026

Drivers should expect heavier than usual traffic and allow extra time, as tournament activities will affect normal travel patterns. Most matches will take place in the afternoon and overlap with evening commuting hours.

With large crowds expected for the World Cup, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is encouraging travelers to “Kick the Drive” and take public transit. The "Kick the Drive" campaign encourages residents, commuters and visitors to plan ahead, avoid driving when possible and take public transportation during match days when significant increases in traffic are expected.

Here is an update about the Bemis Park renovation as of June 11, 2026.

Over this past winter, the contractor (Belko Landscaping) worked on getting the baseball field ready for this spring and laying out the paths. Coming up, the contractor will be installing the paths, splashpad, sheds, and dugout. The playground won’t arrive until mid-summer 2026, and we will open up that area when it’s ready. As amenities of the reconstructed park are completed, they will be reopened in phases to allow access to parkgoers.
