EF2/115mph Tornado (Town of Fayette) and EF1/95mph Tornado (Waterloo-Seneca Falls) confirmed along with intense downbursts on their south sides/in their wakes, from the high-end severe storms Wednesday. ⚠️ TRAVEL & POWER OUTAGE UPDATE ⚠️

Seneca County Office of Emergency Management is receiving multiple reports of downed power lines and trees blocking roadways throughout the area.

🚨 Please use caution if traveling:
• Do not approach or drive over downed power lines. Assume all downed lines are energized.
• Avoid areas where trees or utility lines are blocking the roadway.
• If you encounter a blocked road, turn around and find an alternate route.
• Keep emergency responders and utility crews safe by giving them plenty of room to work.
• If you see a downed power line, stay away and report it to your electric utility or 911 if there is an immediate hazard.

Additional road closures and power outages may occur as crews assess and respond to reports.

Please avoid unnecessary travel and remain alert for changing conditions.

Stay safe and check on neighbors who may need assistance.

Tornado Warning including Seneca Falls NY and Waterloo NY until 9:00 PM EDT

Severe weather is expected across our area late this afternoon through tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued an Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms, with the greatest threats being damaging winds, possible tornadoes, and large hail.

A Flood Watch is in effect from 4 PM today through early Thursday morning, with flash flooding possible—especially in locations that recently received heavy rain. Multiple rounds of storms could make conditions worse overnight, when flooding can be harder to see.
