Youth in grades 1-6 are welcome to join CCE Master Gardeners tomorrow, Wednesday, September 9 from 3:30pm-4:30pm at the Seneca County Community Garden for our Youth Garden Program. Participants will learn about harvesting vegetables this time of year, including a hands-on activity with potatoes. They will also get to pick flowers to take home!

It is with deep sadness that we share the devastating loss of our friend and colleague, Candace. Her impacts as our Farm to School Educator are great and many. She leaves a legacy of deep care and passion for the natural world, including the beauty that comes from growing, harvesting and creating with one’s own hands nourishing foods. Her ability to share her personal love for the cycle of life through plants and the interconnectedness with humans was uncanny.

Like a constant stream of sunshine she brought a sense of peace and warmth to our office and the communities we serve. We are a small staff who embraces each other’s families and we are forever grateful that Candace shared her beautiful children with us. Our thoughts are with all who are also feeling this great loss.

We welcome the sharing of stories of how Candace has positively impacted the Seneca County community and how we will honor her through continuing her work.

Our staff was very happy to assist Seneca County Emergency Management & 911 in the water bottle and dry ice distribution yesterday. While there we heard many stories of our neighbors challenges, if you have experienced damage as a result of the recent storm we urge you to complete the survey.

This survey is utilized after a disaster to collect self reported damages from survivors.
