⭐️ Soldier Spotlight! ⭐️
Sgt. Terrin Padilla
Unit Supply NCO (92Y)
Golf Company, 334th BSB, 2nd BCT, 34th ID
Padilla first joined the Guard as an 88M (motor transport operator) and spent more than six years in that role, including three and a half years as a squad leader and section sergeant at Golf Company.
Looking ahead at career growth opportunities, Padilla reclassed to 92A (automated logistical specialist) before stepping into a 92Y supply position through the AGR program. Padilla is passionate about raising awareness of the full-time opportunities available in the National Guard.
“I think people need to be educated more on full-time opportunities," Padilla said. "I didn’t know a lot about it… It’s a great job, a great program- something you can do with no college education that puts you ahead of a lot of civilian careers that might require one."
Reflecting on what first inspired him to join, Padilla said, “Honestly, I just wanted free college when I first joined, but my grandfather was an E-7 in the Korea/Vietnam era… and he was a big inspiration to me.”
What started as a short-term goal has turned into a career Padilla plans to continue for decades. When asked about the most memorable part of his service so far, Padilla didn’t hesitate.
“The friendships, for sure,” he said. “You make better friends here than you’ll make in a lot of other aspects of life. The connections and the people are what really stick with you." 🇺🇸
