Reminder to Residents Regarding Door-to-Door Solicitors:
The Town has recently received reports of door-to-door salespersons operating in the area. We would like to remind residents that individuals conducting door-to-door sales are required to obtain a permit from the Town of Waterford before soliciting within our community.
Before engaging with a solicitor, residents are encouraged to ask to see their Town-issued permit. If you are unsure whether a solicitor has a valid permit, please contact the Town Office for verification.
Residents should never feel pressured, intimidated, or threatened by any salesperson. If a solicitor is acting aggressively, refuses to leave when asked, or makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please contact the Waterford Police Department immediately.
We encourage residents, especially senior citizens and vulnerable individuals, to exercise caution when dealing with unsolicited salespersons at their door. Do not feel obligated to open your door, provide personal information, sign contracts, or make purchases on the spot.
For questions regarding solicitor permits or to verify whether an individual is properly permitted, please contact the Town Office. If you feel threatened or intimidated, contact the Waterford Police Department without delay.
Thank you for helping keep our community safe.
