25 years later, we remember. On September 11, we honor the lives lost and the countless people who stepped forward to help others. We remember the courage, compassion and spirit of service shown in the days that followed. We appreciate the quiet responsibility of showing up for communities – day after day, often behind the scenes, to help keep everyone safe and cared for. Today, we pause and we never forget.

More than 25 elected officials from across Oakland County joined us this morning in the Charter Township of Highland, Michigan for How Water Works. The event gave local leaders a closer look at how our office operates and maintains water and sewer systems — and the work happening behind the scenes to provide reliable, high-quality services to residents. 🚧TRAFFIC ALERT - Starting Sept. 14, North Telegraph Road in the City of Pontiac, Michigan USA - Government will be reduced to one lane in each direction for at least one month. Work is underway to improve stormwater management along North Telegraph Road at the Oakland County campus. We secured $1.35 million from the Michigan Department of Transportation to help replace stormwater pipes and improve the system’s capacity and reliability during heavy rain. After Labor Day, North Telegraph Road in the City of Pontiac, Michigan USA - Government will be reduced to one lane in each direction for at least one month. Sewer rehabilitation work will begin in the City of Farmington Hills, Michigan - Municipal Government after Labor Day and continue over the coming months. Crews will be working in neighborhoods to inspect, clean, and repair sections of the public sewer system. Sidewalks and driveways will remain open, and residents will receive written advance notice if the work will affect their sewer service.

Know a creative 4th or 5th grader in Oakland County? The 22nd Annual Kids’ Clean Water Calendar Contest is now open! Students can submit artwork to show us how we can all help keep our lakes, rivers, streams, and watersheds clean. Twelve winning entries will have their artwork featured in the calendar and receive fun swag and prizes. Birmingham residents were able to stop by and see how stormwater systems like the Birmingham Retention Treatment Basin and Tunnel help to protect their environment and community during heavy rain.
