🎨 A little creativity, a lot of personality!

Our Back-to-School “All About Me” projects were a hit! 💜 Students had the opportunity to express who they are through self-portraits, personalized hoodies, and one-of-a-kind trading cards.

From favorite things and interests to unique styles and personalities, each project was as individual as the student who created it. What a fun way to build community, celebrate individuality, and kick off a new school year! ✨

🌎 Geography is an integral part of Montessori education! From the earliest years, children begin developing an understanding of the world around them—starting in Preschool with globes, land and water forms, and learning about their place in the world.

In Lower Elementary, that curiosity grows into studying continents, countries, cultures, maps, and the relationship between people and their environment.

By Upper Elementary, students build on this foundation through deeper studies of physical and human geography, regions, resources, cultures, and how the world is interconnected.

Montessori geography grows with the child, moving from “Where am I in the world?” to “How does our world work together?” 🌍✨

A Friday in Montessori looks a little different. 💙

Instead of every child completing the same work at the same time, Montessori gives children the freedom to choose meaningful work, follow their interests, and build independence—while still receiving intentional group lessons and enjoying specials like library, art, music, and PE.

Less “one-size-fits-all.” More choice, purpose, and independence. 🌱

That’s Montessori. That’s WMA. 🦅

🌿 Authentic Montessori is a well-rounded childhood.

At Waterford Montessori Academy, we believe children need more than just time at a work table. They need opportunities to move, create, explore, discover their talents, and simply be kids. 💚

Our Montrssori workdays are thoughtfully balanced with Art, Gym, and Music woven into the school day. 🎨🎶🏃‍♀️✨

Montessori gives children the freedom to follow their interests, build independence, and learn through hands-on experiences. Our enrichment classes give them additional outlets to express themselves, move their bodies, develop new skills, and discover what they love.

Because a great education isn't just about what happens inside the classroom. It's about nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and creativity.

A classroom is so much more than a space—it’s the people who fill it. 🤍

Every curious question, creative idea, laugh, challenge, and moment of discovery makes our Montessori community what it is.

✨ This classroom is nothing without… you in it.
Our students bring the heart, energy, and wonder that make each day special. We are so grateful for every child and family who makes our school community feel like home. 🌿

🌎✨ The First Great Lesson: The Story of the Universe

The First Great Lesson is one of the foundational stories of Montessori education. Maria Montessori developed this story to help children imagine and understand the creation of the universe. Through beautiful language—such as the “dancing of the elements”—children are introduced to scientific ideas and the natural laws that govern our universe, including gravity, matter, and the states of matter.

Every child at WMA experiences the First Great Lesson, but individual classes explore different aspects of the story based on their students’ interests and level of understanding. Some students explored the states of matter through hands-on experiments, while others investigated questions like What makes something a planet? Students researched different types of planets and used their discoveries to create their own books or posters. 🌌📚
