đź’™ Today is World Su***de Prevention Day

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply reach out, listen, and remind someone they’re not alone.

A conversation, a check-in, or asking, “Are you okay?” can make a difference.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Help is available 24/7.

Today and every day, let’s look out for one another.

Va**ng 101: What Parents Need to Know

Va**ng products have changed, and knowing what to look for can help parents and caregivers start important conversations with their kids.

The Waterford Community Coalition and Waterford Youth Assistance are offering FREE Va**ng 101 presentations for parents and caregivers of Waterford School District students this fall.

Learn about current va**ng trends, how vapes work, health risks and the effects of ni****ne on the developing brain. You'll also get practical tips for talking with your kids and have the opportunity to explore an interactive mock teen bedroom to see what va**ng products may actually look like.

📍 Presentations will be held at Mason Middle School, Kettering High School, Pierce Middle School, and Mott High School throughout September and October.

No registration fee. Knowledge is a powerful prevention tool, and one conversation can make a difference.

👉 See the flyer for dates, times, and locations.

September is National Recovery Month

Recovery is possible, and it deserves to be celebrated. đź’ś

September is National Recovery Month, a time to recognize the strength of people in recovery from substance use and mental health challenges, celebrate their progress, and honor the families, friends, professionals, and communities who support them along the way.

Recovery looks different for everyone. There is no single path, timeline, or definition of success. What matters is that people know help is available, change is possible, and no one has to walk the journey alone.

This month, let’s help reduce stigma, encourage conversations, and celebrate every step forward.

Recovery is real. Recovery is possible. Recovery is worth celebrating.

📣 Waterford Community Coalition Needs Your Input! 📣

We’re asking Waterford community members (age 18+)—especially parents of students in grades 6–12—to take a few minutes to complete our 2026 Parent & Community Survey.

Your feedback helps shape future programs, resources, and support for families right here in our community. đź’™

âś… Our goal is to collect at least 100 completed surveys so Waterford can receive its own community report!

📝 Take the survey here:

September is Su***de Prevention Month a reminder that checking in, listening, and reaching out can make a difference.

You don’t have to have all the answers to support someone who may be struggling. Sometimes simply asking, “Are you okay?” and taking the time to truly listen can be an important first step.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or needs someone to talk to, call or text 988 to connect with the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Support is available 24/7.

This month and every month let’s look out for one another, start conversations about mental health, and remind the people in our lives that help is available.

You are never alone. Help is just three numbers away: 988.

đź’ś Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

Today, we remember.

We remember the people whose lives were lost to overdose. We recognize the grief of their families, friends, and loved ones. And we stand with those who are struggling with substance use and those working toward recovery.

Overdose can affect any family and any community. Talking about it matters. Education matters. Prevention matters. And compassion matters.

At the Waterford Community Coalition, we believe that by working together, reducing stigma, and connecting people with resources and support, we can help save lives.

đź’ś Remember without stigma. Support without judgment. Help prevent overdose.

đź’ś Tomorrow is International Overdose Awareness Day.

It’s a day to remember the lives lost to overdose, support the families and friends who carry that loss, and remind our community that every life matters.

It’s also an opportunity to talk openly about substance use and overdose without judgment or stigma. Awareness, education, prevention, and connection can make a difference.

Tomorrow, August 31, we encourage you to take a moment to remember those we’ve lost and to stand with those who are struggling, those in recovery, and the people who love them.

Together, we can help build a community where people know that help, hope, and support are available. đź’ś
