This Friday, June 12th at 9:30 am, we invite our patrons and members of the community to provide feedback regarding the $10,000 American Library Association (ALA) Accessibility Grant that we recently received. We are looking for input about how to best spend these funds in order to make the library a more accessible and welcoming place for everyone, including people with disabilities. If you are interested in participating in this ALA Grant Community Conversation but you are unable to attend on June 12th, please feel free to send an email to [email protected] or call 802-626-5475, and we will gladly set up an alternative time to speak with you. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Watch the full episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqDhJ079M5g

This month, Joe Halko sits down with Melinda White and Brad Ferland, Co-Founders and Co-Chairs of the 5th Annual Substance Use Addiction Summit, to discuss an important community event focused on education, awareness, treatment, and recovery.

The Summit will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction and will feature presentations, resource booths, and breakout sessions designed to connect individuals and families with valuable support services.

Substance use addiction can begin in many different ways, but recovery starts with access to information, resources, and a supportive community. In this episode, learn about the organizations helping people on their recovery journey and how the Summit is bringing those resources together in one place.

Grief can feel especially isolating, but you do not have to navigate it alone.

SVCOA is partnering with River’s Edge Transitions to offer Grief & Aging: Sharing Loss Together, a six week support group for older adults in Rutland County. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with others who understand, share experiences, and find support in a compassionate and welcoming environment.

Space is limited to 8 participants, and advance registration with a screening conversation is required.

To learn more or schedule a screening conversation, please reach out to Nicole at River's Edge Transitions by June 19.

Our friends at My Healthy Vermont are offering a self-management workshop to help you learn how to make choices to live healthier with chronic disease and lower your risk of related health problems. If you are dealing with a long-lasting (chronic) disease, like arthritis, diabetes, cancer, obesity, or heart disease, you’re not alone. About half of all American adults have at least one chronic disease—and 1 in 4 have two or more. These chronic diseases can lead to disability and serious health problems. But the good news is that there’s a lot you can do to help manage chronic disease and prevent related problems. Our workshop can help you make choices to live healthier. July. 9th – Aug. 20th, 2026 9:30am-12:00 pm Online via ZOOM
