St. Vincent DePaul Mission proudly congratulates Ali DeGirolamo on being named the 2026 Volunteer of the Year by Main Street Waterbury. Ali's unwavering commitment to our community is an inspiring example of service in action. In addition to serving on numerous boards and supporting a wide range of charitable initiatives, Ali has organized food, clothing, and hygiene drives that have greatly benefited St. Vincent DePaul Mission and other local service organizations. Her volunteer efforts reflect genuine compassion, outstanding leadership, and a heartfelt dedication to helping those in need. Through both her professional role as a Mayoral Aide to Mayor Paul K. Pernerewski Jr., City of Waterbury - Mayor's Office, and her countless volunteer endeavors, Ali continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many throughout our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to State Representative Bill Pizzuto (far right in the photo with SVDP staff, Chef & Kitchen Director, Frank Parafati; Director of Operations, Edwin Rodriguez; and Assistant Chef, Mathias Stanley) for his kindness and generosity in supporting our St. Vincent DePaul Mission Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. In celebration of his birthday, Representative Pizzuto chose to turn a personal milestone into an act of compassion by asking family and friends to donate nonperishable food items in lieu of gifts. He recently stopped by the Mission to personally deliver these much-needed donations, which will help provide nourishment and hope to individuals and families facing food insecurity in our community. We are deeply grateful for Representative Pizzuto's continued commitment to serving others and for inspiring those around him to give back. Happy Birthday, Representative Pizzuto, and thank you for making your special day a blessing for so many! ❤

We are deeply grateful to the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3961 for their extraordinary generosity and commitment to serving our community. Last evening, Council No. 3961 presented the St. Vincent DePaul Mission with a generous donation of $10,000 to support the construction of a handicap-accessible ramp at our Homeless Shelter on Benedict Street. This important project will help ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness can access our Shelter safely and with dignity. This remarkable gift was made possible through the proceeds of the Council's annual Beverage Tasting event, demonstrating the power of community partnerships and compassionate outreach. Our HOMELESS SHELTER is currently operating under our HOT WEATHER PROTOCOL to help keep shelter guests safe during the summer heat. We are asking our friends and supporters for assistance by donating bottled water, popsicles, and other refreshing items that can help provide comfort and hydration. Your kindness makes a real difference for individuals and families facing homelessness during periods of extreme heat. Donations may be dropped off at our Shelter, 114 Benedict Street, Waterbury.
