🐾 Nothing like ending the school year with a little K9 action and drone flying.🚓

This morning, Sgt Justin Todd, Det. Bell and Ofc. Cooper stopped by Whitley Elementary’s Field Day to give students a hands-on look at some of the tools and training used by Watauga PD.

Students got to watch K9 Chase in action during a live demo, check out a police drone demonstration, and yes… they even got to meet and pet Chase afterward. Safe to say he was the star of the show.

Thank you to Whitley Elementary for having us out. We love opportunities like this to connect with our community and hopefully inspire a few future officers along the way.

Watauga PD had a busy weekend with two separate incidents that led to multiple arrests, recovered fi****ms, and narcotics seizures.

In one case, officers were in the area of a recently shut-down party when a driver fled in a Dodge Challenger at high speed, leading officers on a short chase before crashing. Four people then fled the scene on foot. With help from Haltom City PD and Fort Worth PD’s Air 1 helicopter, all four were located and taken into custody. Officers recovered three fi****ms, narcotics, and cash during the investigation.

In a separate incident, officers responded to a disturbance call at a home. During the investigation, a stolen firearm and illegal narcotics were found inside the residence. A search warrant was later obtained, leading to the recovery of additional drugs and drug-related items. Two people were arrested in connection with the case.

Great teamwork by our officers and assisting agencies in keeping dangerous drugs and illegal fi****ms off the streets.

You May Get an Alert April 2… Here’s Why

Texas will conduct a statewide test of emergency alert systems on Thursday, April 2, at 10 AM.

The City of Watauga will test its emergency alert system as part of this statewide effort.

Residents in Watauga and across Tarrant County may receive test alerts during this time.

What to expect:

• You may receive a test alert on your phone or through the City’s emergency notification system
• You may receive more than one alert
• Outdoor warning sirens will NOT be activated on April 2.

Sirens will be tested as part of the City’s regular monthly test on Wednesday, April 1, at 1:00 PM.

This is only a test. No action is required. Please do not call 911.
Testing helps ensure emergency alerts work properly and allows agencies to identify and fix issues before a real emergency.
