City of Washougal

City of Washougal The official page of the City of Washougal municipal government. Having celebrated it 100th Anniversary in 2008, Washougal still enjoys a small town appeal.

The City of Washougal is located approximately 15 miles east of Vancouver, Washington and only 20 minutes from Portland’s International Airport. Washougal traces its history to the early 1800’s when the Lewis and Clark “Corps of Discovery” spent considerable time camped on the shores of the Columbia River, near the present day site of Captain Clark Park. They remained at this location while provis

ioning for the arduous return trip up the Columbia River and over the Cascade Mountains. Washougal was officially incorporated in 1908 and became the site for one of the first Pendleton Woolen Mills manufacturing facilities. With scenic vistas of the Columbia and Washougal Rivers and Mount Hood - the City boasts a small town charm while situated close to the major metropolitan amenities found in the Greater Portland-Vancouver area.

This project was made possible through a Community Development Block Grant, with engineering by Robertson Fick and construction by Clark and Sons.

Thank you to everyone who attended the 32nd Street Rail Crossing Project Open House last week! For those who were unable to attend, we’re sharing a few of the project boards and materials presented at the open house so you can review the latest information, including project renderings, timeline updates, and next steps.

As one of Washington’s busiest rail crossings, the 32nd Street Corridor project will improve safety, mobility, and connectivity by separating vehicle traffic from railroad operations and creating a more reliable transportation corridor for residents, businesses, and emergency responders.
