🇺🇸 REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸
🇺🇸 25 YEARS LATER 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed.
On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken in an unimaginable act of terror. We remember the victims, the families who lost loved ones, and the countless lives forever impacted by that day.
We also remember the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away. 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and countless other first responders made the ultimate sacrifice.
Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten.
Today, we remember. Today, we honor. Today, we reflect.
25 years later, we still stand together.
🇺🇸 Never Forget. 🇺🇸

🎒🚍 WELCOME BACK, WIZARDS! 🍎📚

The first day of school is here! The Washingtonville Police Department would like to wish all of our students, teachers, staff, parents, and bus drivers a safe, happy, and successful school year!

As everyone gets back into the school year routine, here are a few important reminders to help keep our kids safe:

🚍 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY
• Stop for school buses when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
• Never pass a stopped school bus — children may be crossing the road where you least expect them.
• Give buses plenty of room and be patient around school drop-off and pickup areas.
• Watch carefully for children getting on or off buses and crossing the street.

🚗 DRIVER SAFETY
• Slow down in school zones and residential areas.
• Put the phone down and keep your eyes on the road.
• Be alert for children walking, biking, or crossing streets.
• Follow crossing guards and school traffic patterns.

🚶 STUDENT SAFETY
• Use crosswalks and follow crossing signals.
• Look both ways before crossing the street.
• Stay aware of your surroundings when walking or biking.
• Wear a helmet when riding a bike or scooter.

Most importantly, give yourself a little extra time. The roads will be busier, school buses will be making frequent stops, and our youngest community members will be out and about.

To all of our Washingtonville students: Have fun, make new friends, work hard, and make it a great year! We’ll see you out there!

The Washingtonville Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the Town of Newburgh Police Department, the officer’s family, friends, and brothers and sisters in blue for the heartbreaking loss of one of their own.
A police officer’s badge represents a commitment to serve and protect, and the loss of an officer is felt far beyond the walls of their department. We stand together with our law enforcement family and keep the fallen officer and his loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
May the memories of his dedication, service, and sacrifice bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
Rest easy, brother 🙏 🖤💙🖤🙏

🚨🚨🚨 Public Safety Announcement 🚨🚨🚨

The Washingtonville Police Department would like to inform all residents and motorists that the speed limit on the entire length of Ahern Boulevard has been officially reduced from 30 mph to 25 mph.
Updated speed‑limit signs have been installed by our Department of Public Works, and the Village’s Variable Message Board has been positioned to alert drivers of the new speed limit.
Our goal is to ensure everyone is fully aware of this change before strict enforcement begins. We appreciate the community’s attention and cooperation in helping keep Ahern Boulevard safe for all who travel it.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Washingtonville Police Department at 845-496-9123.
