6/1/26 City Council Meeting Highlights:

🚒 The City recognized several local heroes for their courageous actions during the fire at Casey's. Residents Clayton Kuhlman and Brandon Hart, along with firefighter Daniel Grothe, were honored for their quick thinking and bravery in helping rescue individuals from the building. We are grateful for their selfless actions and commitment to helping others.

🎨 The Washington Bridge Education Foundation shared an update on the upcoming Paint the Path event on June 20. The event will feature art, live music, food vendors, and raise funds for local students pursuing careers in the trades. This year's event will also celebrate America's 250th birthday with a special art competition.

🏛️ The Council approved appointments to the Five Points Board and Glendale Cemetery Board of Managers, received an update on the City's upcoming strategic planning process, and approved several projects and purchases that support community infrastructure and city services. These included major drainage improvements, engineering services for upcoming capital projects, renewal of the City's property and liability insurance, the purchase of a new backhoe for Public Works, and funding for a study exploring potential Business Development Districts in the Washington-Sunnyland area and along Route 24.
