*E-BIKES & E-SCOOTERS*

We’re seeing a big increase in E-Bike & E-Scooter use. Below are some of the regulations:

The Basics-
• E-bikes must be 750 watts or less & fall into Class 1, 2, or 3
• Over 750W? It is NOT an e-bike, it may require a license, registration, & insurance

Quick Rules-
• E-bikes & scooters are treated like bicycles
• Can ride where bikes are allowed
• Class 3 has extra restrictions: Under 15 cannot operate & under 18 a helmet is required

Traffic Laws Apply-
If you’re on the road, you must:
• Stop at stop signs & red lights
• Obey one-way streets

Lighting Reminder-
• At night, both e-bikes & scooters must have a white front light & red rear light or reflector visible from 500 feet

Parents-
Before you buy:
• Check wattage (750W or less)
• Check speed & class label

Many “e-bikes” sold are NOT street legal for kids.
