📊 March 2026 Monthly Activity Report 📊
March was an extremely active and productive month for Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS, highlighted by increased call volume, extensive training, and continued improvements in service delivery.
🚑 Our second Paramedic-level ambulance continues to make a significant impact on our ability to serve the community. During the month of March, there were 126 instances where both ambulances were on separate 911 responses at the same time — a 39% overlap in EMS calls.
Without the addition of this second unit, we would have relied on Mutual Aid EMS at least 63 times. This clearly demonstrates how this resource is improving response capability, reducing reliance on outside agencies, and ensuring faster, more reliable care for our citizens.
🔥 Training remained a major focus throughout the month:
• All personnel completed our Spring Semi-Annual Facility Training, focusing on victim search and rescue in low-visibility fire conditions
• Our Water Rescue Team participated in multiple specialized training opportunities:
Training with NC Ferry Service in Bayview alongside NC Marine Patrol, practicing ferry vessel operations including victim removal and fire suppression support
Training in Pamlico County with NC HART (Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team), focusing on helicopter-based water rescue operations
🎓 We are proud to recognize that 7 members obtained their Fire Instructor II certification this month. These members are enhancing their ability to deliver high-quality training within our department while also helping mentor new employees and the next generation of firefighters.
🏢 Additionally, 4 members obtained their Level II Fire Inspector certifications. Having certified inspectors on shift, in addition to our Fire Marshal’s Office, strengthens our ability to enforce fire codes and helps ensure a safer community for our residents and visitors.
We are proud of the continued dedication of our members and appreciate the ongoing support from our community as we strive to provide the highest level of service.
