Last week you may have seen several different fire trucks at Eastside Park. Departments from around the country participated in pump testing. This testing ensures that each fire truck's pump is working properly for extended periods of time.

Just a reminder folks. If you have a fire hydrant on your property, we would greatly appreciate the help if you’re able to clear the area around it! With such a large amount of snow, some hydrants are completely disappearing! In an emergency, seconds matter.

Thank you.

Like normal Indiana weather, we just don't know what we are going to get this weekend. We want everyone to be prepared and safe . A few tips/ things to think about:
- 911 is for emergencies only, do not call 911 for road conditions.
- Dispatch does not monitor road conditions, use 511in.org.
- Use extreme caution if you must travel, allow extra time and remember bridges and overpasses will freeze first.
- Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle in case you get stranded.
- If you are traveling, pay attention to where you are at in case you need emergency responders.
- Watch for emergency vehicles and snow plows and make sure to give them plenty of room.
- Be sure to use alternative heat sources safely!
- Make plans for outside animals to stay warm and cared for.
- Check on the elderly and disabled.
- Make sure your electronics are charged.
- Check social media for information on warming centers (dispatch does not have any info on these).

📷 borrowed from another agency, but it's pretty true! We'll all need a little humor this weekend.
