Building trust starts early. 🚒💙

From teaching “Close Before You Doze” to showing kids it’s okay to approach firefighters in full gear, today was all about education, safety, and community connection. Crews even helped the students cool off with a water day to beat the heat and make learning fun.

Crews responded to a trash fire today that required a temporary closure of Country Way while firefighters worked to safely contain the incident. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience during the response. The safety of our firefighters, responding personnel, and the public will always remain our top priority.

Trash fires can spread quickly and pose a serious risk to sanitation vehicles, which is why refuse crews may dump their loads to prevent the fire from extending to the truck itself. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of fire personnel and sanitation crews, the incident was handled safely and efficiently.

As temperatures continue to rise heading into summer, please remember to properly dispose of batteries, ashes, and other flammable materials to help reduce the risk of fires.

As summer begins and more people head outdoors to enjoy the sunshine, we want to remind everyone to stay safe in the heat. Whether you’re hiking, working outside, spending time on the water, or simply enjoying the beautiful scenery around Southern Utah, remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and protect yourself from the sun.

Today, our crews had the opportunity to stop by a local farm and enjoy one of the many things that makes this community special. Supporting local families, farmers, and small businesses helps keep our community strong, and we’re grateful to serve alongside the hardworking people who call this area home.

Stay safe, look out for one another, and enjoy the start of summer responsibly. ☀️

Crews responded to a brush fire today under extremely dry and gusty conditions. Firefighters were able to make a quick stop and contain the fire before further spread.

The cause remains under investigation, though the fire is believed to be human caused.

With dry fuels and high winds across the area, even a small spark can quickly lead to a fast-moving fire. Please use caution with ci******es, fireworks, trailer chains, and any outdoor activity that may create sparks.

Crews responded to reports of a structure fire after the occupants noticed smoke filling the home.

Fires can travel through attics, crawl spaces, and wall voids long before they become visible. That’s why crews often check for extension by opening walls, ceilings, or flooring during overhaul operations. Fire barriers and properly installed fire blocking inside a home can play a critical role in slowing fire spread and buying valuable time for occupants and firefighters.

Working smoke alarms, early notification, and quick action remain some of the most important factors in limiting fire damage and keeping families safe.

Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters is a nationwide campaign led by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, held each year leading up to National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

Throughout this week, fire departments, landmarks, businesses, and homes across the country shine red to honor firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

We invite our community to take part—light your home or business in red and help us remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Burn season is typically open through May, however it will be ending early this year with the last day for open burning set for March 31.

Open burning is regulated at the state and county level and requires both proper permitting and safe conditions. Permits are issued on a day-to-day basis and can be suspended at any time due to fire danger or air quality.

If you are burning during the permitted timeframe, follow these safety requirements:
• Check weather conditions—do not burn if wind is forecast
• Clear the area and keep debris away from structures and trees
• Have a water supply readily available
• Maintain control of the fire at all times
• Notify local fire dispatch prior to burning
• Ensure the fire is completely out and cold before leaving
