Today 53 plungers welcomed the first day of 2026 with a quick dip into the 44-degree water of the Pamlico River at Goose Creek's swim beach. The brave plungers were supported by a large group of friends and family. After the plunge everyone enjoyed smores provided by the Friends of Goose Creek State Park. The event was free of charge but a donation of non-perishable food for Eagles Wings was suggested. The Friends of Goose Creek would like to thank our community partners who supported the Polar Plunge: Beaufort County Sheriff's Department, Beaufort County Emergency Management, Bunyan Fire Department, and Broad Creek EMS.
