What an incredible year for the Washington City Youth Council!
We recently had the honor of celebrating the graduation of eight outstanding seniors from this service-centered program, and we could not be more proud of everything these young leaders accomplished this year.
From Pioneer Day and Trunk or Treat at the Community Center, to Veterans Day, Christmas in Dixie, Pearl Harbor/USS Utah Remembrance Day, and a visit to our State Capitol during the legislative session, these students showed up with dedication and heart at every turn. They also lent their time and energy to the Dogtown Races, Cotton Days, and so much more throughout the year. All in all, these students played a major role in 12 different city-sponsored activities and events, in addition to their monthly meetings.
As a small token of our gratitude for their commitment to serving our community, Washington City was honored to award $3,000 in scholarships to these very deserving students.
And they are not done yet! Over the summer, the Youth Council will be completing their service project by bringing much needed light to an underpass at Sullivan Park, topped off with a beautiful mural painted by the council members themselves.
Washington City is a better place because of young people like these. Congratulations to our graduating seniors, and thank you to every Youth Council member for the service you give to the city we all love.
Here is a slide show demonstrating a bit of all that they were involved in this past year!
