Lithuanian Army Col. Viktoras Bagdonas, commander of the Griffin Brigade and Command Sgt. Maj. Audrius Knapkevičius, the Griffin Brigade senior enlisted leader were awarded the Order of Saint Maurice during a ceremony at Fort Indiantown Gap Feb. 20, 2026.

Awarded by the National Infantry Association and the Chief of Infantry, the Order of Saint Maurice recognizes the significant contributions made by infantrymen. Awardees must have served the Infantry community with distinction; must have demonstrated a significant contribution in support of the Infantry; and must represent the highest standards of integrity, moral character, professional competence, and dedication to duty. Both have served the Lithuanian Land Forces for nearly 30 years.

Take a trip to the GAP to show your family and friends what the Guard is all about!

📆 Mark your calendars! The 2026 Fort Indiantown Gap open house will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6. There will be a flyover, vehicle displays, food vendors, military training exercises, live music, a climbing wall and a bounce house.

Accessing post will be less restrictive during the event. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to avoid parking delays. Transportation will be provided from the parking areas to the event space.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held rain or shine.

On July 25th 2025, during this year’s Annual Training at FTIG, PA, our Iron Brigade proudly conducted a Change of Command ceremony. We thank COL Shawn Wray for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment over the past three years. We also congratulate LTC Owen Adams on assuming command during a pivotal period for the brigade.

In keeping with tradition, former 2IBCT commanders passed the Brigade Colors to CSM Timothy Nicewonger, who then facilitated the symbolic passing of Colors. The historic First City Troop served as the Brigade Color Guard in their ceremonial uniforms, adding honor and heritage to the event.

Today, the Pennsylvania National Guard celebrates its 277th birthday. in 1747, a group of volunteers organized by Benjamin Franklin to defend Philadelphia held their first muster. The group, known as the Associators, would eventually become what is today the Pennsylvania National Guard. Today’s 111th Infantry Regiment and 103rd Brigade Engineer Battalion -- both part of the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 28th ID -- trace their history to those 600 original Associators.
