Book Lovers, the annual Friends of the Library book sale is this weekend at the library! Starting Monday September 14, sale books in the lobby are priced at $2.00 for a hardback and $1.00 for a paperback. You can shop the lobby books all week. Contractor will be continuing work next week on High Street Project moving north. Starting Monday September 14th, High Street will be closed to thru traffic between James Street and Third Street and between Third Street and Esther Street, Monday through Friday. Road closed and detour signs will be in place, following the attached detour map.

Please use caution in this area and utilize alternative routes if possible. There will be delays and possible street closures at times during the project. This work will impact travel to the City Parks and Fairgrounds.

🏈🔥 FRIDAY NIGHT, THE RIVALRY IS BACK, AND WASHMO IS READY! 🔥🏈

After nearly 20 years, Washington High School and St. Francis Borgia High School are finally meeting on the football field again! It’s going to be a special night featuring student-athletes and cheerleaders from both schools, along with the Washington High School Band, as our community comes together for this long-awaited matchup.

We’re expecting a big crowd, so plan ahead:

• Arrive early: There will be no access to the stadium during the school day to reserve seats.
• Expect increased traffic and pedestrians around WHS
• Parking is only allowed in marked spots. No parking in the grass or along Highway 47.
• Keep sidewalks, driveways, intersections, and emergency access areas clear.
• Be respectful and practice good sportsmanship. At the end of the night, remember, it’s just a game.

Think before you Drain!

Chlorine drained from swimming pools and hot tubs can have adverse effects of water quality and aquatic life. Discharging swimming pools to storm sewers and streams is prohibited unless dechlorinated first. Dechlorinate naturally by allowing water to sit in the sun for several days without adding chlorine. Make sure to use a test kit to check chlorine level before draining must be under 1 part per million (ppm).

Due to the weather, the Rotary Club has made the difficult decision to cancel Rotary Trail Day 2026 rather than risk the health and safety of our attendees and volunteers.

At this time, the Rotary Club has decided not to reschedule the event this year. Instead, Rotary Trail Day will be postponed until 2027.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and look forward to seeing you back on the trails next year! 🌿
