May was Hospital Month at WCHC, and throughout the month we took time to celebrate the incredible people who make our organization such a special place. 💙
Healthcare is about more than buildings, equipment, and services—it's about the people who show up every day to care for our patients, support one another, and strengthen our communities. Hospital Month gave us the opportunity to recognize that dedication and have a little fun along the way.
Here's a look back at how we celebrated:
🧩 Puzzle Challenge – Departments teamed up for some friendly competition, collaboration, and a chance to earn a pizza party. Congratulations to our Food and Nutrition Services Department for winning the challenge!
📸 WCHC Photo Activity – Staff shared throwback photos and memories, highlighting just how much our team—and WCHC—has grown over the years.
🎨 Paint & Plant Succulent Workshop – Team members enjoyed a creative break while painting pots and planting succulents at GunnySac Designs.
🍳 Free Breakfast – We kicked off Hospital Week by serving breakfast to staff across all WCHC locations and shifts.
🏆 Annual Service Awards Ceremony – We gathered at Wells Park to honor employees whose years of service reflect a commitment to WCHC, our patients, and our mission.

☕ Best of Iowa Pastries & Juniper Roots Coffee Truck – Staff enjoyed delicious pastries from Best of Iowa - Kalona while Juniper Roots Coffee Truck stopped by to serve up favorite coffee drinks, creating the perfect midweek pick-me-up and a chance to support local businesses.
🍪 Free Cookie Day – Because sometimes a simple thank-you (and a cookie!) can brighten someone's day.
🎁 Employee Appreciation Gifts – Every employee received a gift as a small token of our gratitude for the work they do all year long. Staff got to choose from a tote, shirt, speaker, or silicone food storage containers.
At WCHC, we know that our greatest strength is our people. Their compassion, teamwork, expertise, and commitment make a difference in the lives of our patients and each other every day.
