Summary of Ordinance No. 832

On September 7, 2026, the City of Washington, Kansas adopted Ordinance No. 832, an ordinance amending Chapter 14, Article 6, City Tree Board, of the City Code of the City of Washington, Kansas regarding the distance street trees and park trees may be planted from curbs, sidewalks, and utilities within the city limits of the City of Washington, Kansas. A complete text of the Ordinance may be obtained or viewed free of charge at City Hall, 301 C Street, Washington, Kansas. Additionally, the full text may be viewed on the City’s official website www.washingtonks.net for a minimum of one week following the date of this publication. 9/8/26 The bulk water vending machine can only accept QUARTERS at this time until further notice while parts are ordered to repair the part that accepts bills. Please plan accordingly if you need to purchase bulk water. Bring QUARTERS with you.

UPDATE: It is fixed! The City's bulk water dispenser at the south end of the park is OUT OF SERVICE until further notice. Will update this post when it is back in service.

Public Works Superintendent Position

The City of Washington, Kansas, is accepting applications for Public Works Superintendent. The applicant must possess a valid Kansas Class B CDL and HS Diploma/GED. Knowledge in vehicle and equipment maintenance and operations, along with supervisory, managerial and leadership skills, is required for this position. This position requires residency within a five-mile radius of the City, and on-call coverage on a rotating basis. This position requires Class 2 Water and Class 1 Wastewater operator certifications.

Zofia is offering educational books and learning apps for families—perfect for kids from toddlers all the way up to college prep.
