This is the Historic Page of the Connecticut~Copperthite Pie Baking Company of Georgetown Established in 1885 and Incorporated in 1888. Almost penniless and founded on the Eve of Thanksgiving in 1885 Henry & Johanna O’Neil Copperthite started baking pies out of a back of a wagon in Georgetown, Washington District of Columbia . Their profit was about $100 in today’s money and they never looked back

. By 1921 and located at the Corners of Wisconsin Avenue and O Street N.W., the Connecticut ~ Copperthite Pie Company had 230 Wagons, 600 Horses, and was the city’s largest non-Government Employer, with 15,000 workers turning out over 50,000 pies a day! The Connecticut ~ Copperthite Pie Baking Company was made up of family and friends from the Civil War and became the largest pie manufacture in the World and second largest bakery in the United States, producing over 14 million pies a year! Washington became known as “the Pie Capital of America” and the Copperthite family did much then as it does now in support of charitable work in the community, the Nation, and for those in need around the World. Our 125-year-old motto from back in the day has as much meaning today and speaks of the quality and service, honor and pride, and our continued commitment to the many people who worked and lived in those times and who today enjoy our award-winning pies, “the finest in all the land”. Ask for, Insist Upon, and Accept No Other!
