PUBLIC NOTICE

With spring and summer approaching, the City of Washington Street Department wants to make the public aware that when using a hired contractor or hired individual to trim and/or cut trees, City Ordinance Code 98.05 states they must obtain a permit from the proper department of the city administration before job initiation. All clean up and removal of limbs and debris from the site must be done by the hired contractor or hired individual not by the city. If the contractor or hired individual does not clean up and remove debris, the landowner is responsible for removal.
When homeowners/property owners do the work and are placing limbs at the street or alley for pick-up they must be neatly stacked with cut ends facing the street or alley. The piles should be stacked no more than 4 feet high and in lengths of no more than 4 feet. Limbs and debris that are a tangled mess will be the property owner’s responsibility to discard or untangle for future pickup.

🗑️TRASH UPDATE🗑️
The City of Washington Street Department would like to remind residents that during the extreme cold temperatures tomorrow is predicted to have -28 wind chill.
We will be picking up Wednesday trash route and working on the Monday and Tuesday for the remainder of the week. Please have your trash out by 7:00 AM times will VARY. We ask for PATIENCE as the men will be walking in very deep snow for a large portion of the routes and with the extreme temperatures it will not be a fast or easy task. Also, much of the trash will be frozen in the cans or buried in the snow and unable to be picked up. We hope to be back on our normal schedule next week. Thank you for your patience and curtesy.

⚠️🗑️TRASH INFORMATION🗑️⚠️

We will not be picking up trash tomorrow Tuesday 1/27. The landfill is closed due to the travel advisory.
We will post an update on trash pickups as soon as we are able to get a workable schedule for all trash services. We appreciate your patients as we are dealing with this very large snow event and unbearable temperatures.

We have 3 trees down that we are aware of at this time. One on Apraw Rd. Sunset Ave. McCormick Ave. Please avoid the areas if possible. We are getting the roads cleared 1st and will get cleanup done as soon as possible. Happy Friday to everyone!

NEW YEARS TRASH INFORMATION
We WILL be picking up Wednesday the 31st as usual.
Thursday January 1st will be picked up on Friday January 2nd.
All of Thursday and Friday's trash will need to be out by 7:00 AM.

Wednesday 12/24 will be picked up Tuesday 12/23.
Thursday 12/25 will be picked up Friday 12/26.
ALL TIMES WILL BE DIFFERENT YOU MUST HAVE ALL TRASH OUT BY 7:00 AM. This is for everyone not just those being picked up on a different day. If your trash is normally on Tuesday or Friday your times will be different also.
We appreciate your cooperation.

Shout out to our crew after working through the night clearing snow they headed out at to pick up 40,380 lbs. of trash. Back to the roads this afternoon. Hope everyone stays safe and warm and has a great weekend!

The snow last week had delayed our pickup. We have begun in area 2 this morning.

NEWS RELEASE:

All city offices and departments will be closed on Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th in observance of Thanksgiving. There will be no trash pick- up. The recycling center will also be closed on these dates as well as Saturday the 29th. Residents with trash pick-up on Thursday are asked to have their trash ready for pick-up by 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26th. Residents with trash pick-up on Friday are asked to have their trash ready for pick-up by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1st. Anyone with questions may contact the Street Department at 254-4564.
