Last weekend, the Wilkes County 4-H SAFE Shotgun Team traveled to the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry to compete in the Georgia 4-H State Shotgun Match!

Georgia 4-H SAFE (Shooting, Awareness, Fun, and Education) focuses on youth development through safe firearm handling, teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and leadership. This year’s state competition brought together an incredible 977 competitors from across Georgia for a weekend of competition and fellowship.

Representing Wilkes County were:
• Addie Armour
• Levi Boatwright
• Shelby Callaway
• Emmett Hardy
• Will Hardy
• Brantley Rogers
• Gage Wright

We would also like to recognize our high scorers from the competition:
🏅 Emmett Hardy — Top Junior Shooter, hitting 23/25
🏅 Brantley Rogers and Will Hardy tied for Top Senior Shooter, both hitting a perfect 25/25
🏅 In Shot Doubles, Will Hardy hit 6/10 and Brantley Rogers hit 8/10

Congratulations to our team on a great showing at the state match! We are proud of your hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship. 🍀💚

A special thank you goes to our coaches, Justin Armour and Tucker Hardy, as well as our parents and volunteers who give their time and support to make opportunities like this possible. Your encouragement and commitment mean so much to our program and our youth!

Get ready for an exciting adventure day in Athens with Wilkes County 4-H! Participants will explore some of Athens’ most fun destinations while enjoying a full day of learning, recreation, and summer memories with friends. 🌞💚

Our day will include:
🏟️ Touring University of Georgia Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall
🦉 Visiting Bear Hollow Zoo
🏊 Cooling off with a swim at Memorial Park Pool

⏰ 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
📍 Meet at the Wilkes Extension Office & travel to Athens, GA

💲 Cost: $15
👥 Class Size: Limited to 25 participants

🥪 Participants should bring:
• Picnic lunch & drink

• Swimsuit (*one-piece for girls)
• Towel

Participants will tour an educational equine facility and learn about:
