Important Notice from the Town Board: Water Disconnections
The Town Board has directed that water disconnections for delinquent accounts will begin November 5.
If your account is past due, please contact Town Hall before November 5 to establish an approved payment plan. Payment plans must provide for the account’s full balance to be paid by January 1.
Please understand that accounts disconnected for nonpayment will not be restored until the entire account balance, including any applicable fees, has been paid in full.
Moving Forward
To keep all utility accounts current and allow the Town to maintain accurate financial records, the following billing and disconnection schedule will be enforced:
Water bills must be paid by the 16th of each month to avoid a late penalty.
If an account remains unpaid by the first Thursday following the 1st of the month, the account will be subject to disconnection.
A disconnection fee will apply when service is shut off.
Water service will not be restored until the account is paid in full, including applicable late and disconnection fees.
The Town currently has an excessive number of delinquent accounts. Outstanding utility balances make it difficult for the Town to keep accurate books and continue providing dependable water service to the community.
The Board has reviewed how other municipalities address delinquent utility accounts and has adopted a process that is more lenient than many surrounding communities. We want to work with residents whenever possible, but account holders must contact Town Hall and follow through on an approved payment arrangement.
H2O Help Program
For residents who are able to help neighbors facing hardship, the Town offers the H2O Help Program. Participants may round their monthly water bill up to the nearest dollar, with the additional amount placed in a fund to assist residents in need.
At this time, the H2O Help fund contains only $213.84, and just five residents currently participate. Even a small monthly contribution can make a meaningful difference for a neighbor experiencing a difficult time.
Please help us help you. If you believe your account may be past due, contact Town Hall as soon as possible to discuss an appropriate payment plan.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
