Hurffville Volunteer Fire Company

Hurffville Volunteer Fire Company Hurffville Volunteer Fire Company is one of three battalions serving the Washington Township Communi and Hurffville-Grenloch Rd.

The Hurffville Fire Company was established on October 15, 1927. The original firehouse was built in 1931 and was located on Delsea Dr. in between Hurffville-Crosskeys Rd. An addition was built onto the existing station in 1963 in order to house additional equipment for the fire company. In 1975, due to a rapid growth in residential development, a 2nd station was constructed on Altair Dr. and Thie

s Rd. In 1995 the Hurffville Fire Company moved out of its original station and into a new station on East Holly Ave. that also houses the WTFD Board of Fire Commissioners and the command/support staff for the WTFD. The fire company has offered a number of unique services to Washington Township throughout the years, including housing the only Tanker in town (Tanker 1033) to currently housing the only Rescue (Rescue 1038) truck in town. The members of the Hurffville Fire Company are very proud to aid in protecting Washington Township along with the Grenloch Fire Company and Whitman Square Fire Company.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Calvin Harrje.

Calvin was a Life Member of both the Washington Township Fire Department and the Hurffville Volunteer Fire Company. Over the years, he proudly served in multiple roles, including Lieutenant, Safety Officer, and Secretary Calvin was always stepping up when his department, community, or fellow firefighters needed him most.

In addition to his service with us, Calvin retired as a Shift Fire Chief from the Paulsboro Valero Refinery, where he continued to demonstrate his dedication to fire safety and leadership.

Calvin was more than just a firefighter—he was a friend, a mentor, and a genuinely kind and selfless person. His impact on those around him will not be forgotten, and his legacy of service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Rest easy Calvin.

🔥🚒 Heads Up, Washington Township! 🚒🔥

It’s been dry. It’s been windy. And that’s the perfect recipe for BRUSH FIRES!

Area firefighters have been busy tackling fires that spread way too fast because of these conditions. But here’s the deal—YOU can help us prevent them!

✅ Skip the Burn –One gust of wind can turn a small flame into a wildfire!
✅ Douse It! – If you must have a fire, soak it with water until it’s completely cold before walking away.
✅ No Tossing Butts – Ci******es can smolder for hours before igniting dry grass. Use an ashtray, not the ground!
✅ Secure Equipment – Chains dragging from trailers or loose metal parts can spark fires on the road.

🔥 Remember: One Spark is All It Takes! 🔥

Let’s work together to keep Washington Township safe. If you see a fire, CALL 911 immediately.
