Viral hepatitis, HIV, and other blood-borne pathogens can spread through injection drug use if people use needles, syringes, or other injection materials that were previously used by someone who had one of these infections.
Syringe Service Programs (SSPs) are associated with an estimated 50% reduction in HIV and HCV infections.

About the Greater Than AIDS/Walgreens National HIV Community Partnership:

Since 2011, KFF (KAISER FAMILY FOUNDATION), through its Greater Than AIDS public information initiative, and Walgreens have teamed with health departments (EAST SIDE HEALTH DISTRICT) and HIV service organizations across the nation to provide free HIV testing and information in Walgreens stores in support of National HIV Testing Day (June 27). To date, more than 72,000+ free HIV tests have been provided, and even more people have been reached with critical HIV resources.
