On May 20, DPA came together for Senior Signing Day, one of our favorite traditions and a celebration of the Class of 2026.

Part pep rally and part milestone celebration, the event gives seniors the opportunity to announce their postsecondary plans and inspire younger scholars. We intentionally hold it in our middle school so our younger students can see what is possible through hard work and perseverance.

This year's graduating class has earned more than $13 million in college scholarships. As we look ahead to graduation on June 9, we couldn't be prouder of all they have accomplished.

Earlier this month, DPA seniors Brian Gale Jr. and Jakera Watson joined DPA CEO Mashea Ashton in testifying before the DC City Council about how the $50 Study has impacted their educational journeys.

The $50 Study, a program run by the Fifty and Rooted Schools Foundation, provides students with weekly financial incentives designed to encourage school attendance and teach financial literacy through savings. Together, they advocated for continued funding to sustain the program at DPA and expand access for students across other DC high schools.

We are incredibly proud of our seniors for using their voices to advocate not only for themselves, but for future students as they prepare for the next chapter in college and beyond. Thank you, DC Board Chair Phil Mendelson, for inviting us to testify.

At DPA, mental wellness is part of our focus on ensuring everyone is Known, Loved, and Respected.

This year, scholars have participated in wellness activities like yoga, art therapy, and mental health sessions.

This National Charter Schools Week, we’re celebrating public charter schools for building the workforce of tomorrow. At DPA, scholars develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed to thrive in the 21st century.

From middle school through high school graduation, scholars experience rigorous academics, computer science education, and a community where students are Known, Loved, and Respected. DPA is preparing the next generation of innovators and changemakers. 💻
