Our latest release is a comprehensive report that exposes what Documentary Proof of Citizenship (DPOC) laws really are: Costly, error-prone, and unjust.

As states across the country consider DPOC requirements in the wake of the federal SAVE Act’s return, we deserve clarity and transparency from our elected officials, not obfuscation and misinformation.

🚨 DPOC laws don’t secure elections, they create problems.

They are:
➡️ Fiscally irresponsible
➡️ Prone to serious administrative errors
➡️ Unjust in impact
➡️ Legally risky and resource-intensive

We deserve the facts. Read our latest report: http://bit.ly/4q1Gwuf

As states across the country consider Documentary Proof of Citizenship (DPOC) requirements in the wake of the federal SAVE Act’s return, one critical question has gone largely unanswered: What will these laws actually cost to implement?

Our new report in partnership with Demos and Campaign Legal Center, The Costs of Implementing Documentary Proof of Citizenship Bills, offers a clear, evidence-based answer.

Whether your state is considering a DPOC requirement or whether you’re simply committed to inclusive political participation, this paper breaks down the real impact these laws have on state budgets and elections. Learn more: http://bit.ly/4q1Gwuf

Too often, district maps representing BIPOC and working communities are manipulated to favor one political party over another. Fair maps that accurately and equitably count our voices can make the difference in whether our communities have what we need to thrive.

To further understand how pro-democracy advocates are responding to this moment, State Voices asked Jennie Fisher of Alabama Forward, Angela Lin of Ohio Voice, and Ashley Shelton of the Power Coalition for their perspectives and lessons gained through the movements for fair maps.

As we head into 2026, grassroots organizers are proving that a multiracial, accountable democracy isn’t just possible, it’s already being constructed block by block and district by district. Check out our latest blog: https://www.statevoices.org/redistricting-is-key/

Boycott of Target, Home Depot, and Amazon from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday!

These companies have rolled back DEI, colluded with ICE, and profited off of worker exploitation. It’s clear they only care about their bottom lines and making their executives richer, so we’re putting our money where our mouths are and demanding .

We won’t be spending a cent at Target, Home Depot, or Amazon this week. Instead, we’re shopping local and donating to mutual aid orgs. Join the boycott at weaintbuyingit.com

If billionaires can take tourist trips to space, we should all be able to put food on the table. Millions of Americans rely on SNAP benefits for reliable access to food — including people with full-time jobs, people with disabilities, and refugees. And with the cost of groceries skyrocketing, now is the time to expand access to benefits, not restrict it.

We need leaders who will put the needs of the people first, not the wealthy elite. Join the movement for

Everybody should eat, not just billionaires.

To sustain their basic needs, 42 million people rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) every month. The government’s suspension of SNAP benefits in November will devastate lower income families who are already struggling to make ends meet.

SNAP is being cut off because billionaires and greedy politicians in our government would rather bicker and debate than work together for the common good, leading to barriers to vital resources. But human rights are not debatable. We all deserve to have our basic needs met like affordable housing, health care, and FOOD. This is the season for community aid and demanding

Please look up mutual aid networks in your community to help make sure we all can survive. We can eat together, learn together, and fight for our rights together.

“I see how hard everyone works. I see the passion they bring, and I know how hard they’re fighting not for themselves, but for the future. Just like a generation of people fought for us. I’m living the dream of my ancestors”

Members of the Civic Tennessee gathered this week to celebrate the incredible advocate and Civic TN executive director, Matia Powell. The celebration was part of the Singing Truth to Power benefit show set in the backdrop of a magical evening where amazing musicians performed to uplift Tennessee communities and raise funds for year-round civic organizing in the state.

Hats off to the wonderful organizers of this powerful event. ✨🎤✊🏾👏🏽
