Our staff understand that with support in a few key areas, seniors can age with independence and a maintained quality of life. As our founder, Dr. Arthur Flemming, used to say, “An older person deserves a dream, not just a memory”. We help our seniors keep their dreams by empowering them to lead active, independent, and vibrant lives – by helping them to age in community, with dignity and respect.

Emmaus is a social justice organization that advocates on behalf of older adults residing in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. We serve all individuals regardless of race, creed, color, religion, class and sexual orientation. We believe strongly in the good of humanity and do our part by being a part of the solution.

We do not condone or tolerate bigotry, racism and the platform of any group or people who would dehumanize others for their gain. Our mission is to empower and educate so that older adults can not just survive, but thrive.
