🇱🇹 | Rugsėjo 11-ąją Jungtinėse Amerikos Valstijose minima Nacionalinė tarnystės ir atminimo diena (National Day of Service and Remembrance). Ši diena skirta pagerbti 2001 m. rugsėjo 11-osios teroro išpuolių aukas, taip pat prisiminti visus, kurie tą dieną rizikavo savo gyvybe, gelbėjo kitus ir telkėsi padėti nukentėjusiems.
Minint šią dieną, žmonės visoje Amerikoje kviečiami savanoriauti, padėti savo bendruomenėms ir atlikti gerus darbus – taip įprasminant rugsėjo 11-osios atminimą.
Šiemet prie nacionalinės savanorystės iniciatyvos „Unite for Good“ prisijungė ir LR ambasados Vašingtone komanda.
Ši iniciatyva subūrė įvairias organizacijas visoje Amerikoje ir tapo didžiausia istorijoje vienos dienos maisto paketų ruošimo akcija. Ji vyko daugiau nei 50 JAV miestų, kuriuose tūkstančiai savanorių kartu supakavo net 18 mln. maisto porcijų, skirtų šeimoms, kurioms reikalinga pagalba.
Prie akcijos prisijungėme drauge su ES atstovybe Vašingtone.
🇺🇸 | September 11 in the United States is marked as the National Day of Service and Remembrance, dedicated to honoring the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, as well as remembering all those who risked their lives that day, saved others, and came together to help those affected.
To mark this day, people across the United States are invited to volunteer, support their communities, and perform acts of kindness—giving meaning to the remembrance of September 11. This year, the team of the Embassy of Lithuania in Washington, D.C., also joined the national 9/11 Day volunteer initiative “Unite for Good.”
The initiative brought together organizations across the United States for the largest one-day food-packing event in history. It took place in more than 50 U.S. cities, where thousands of volunteers came together to pack 18 million meals for families in need.
We joined the effort together with the European Union in the United States.
