Donald Trump is the President Elect of The United States. For many this was not the desired result, for others, precisely the desired result. Regardless of which side you fall on, the electoral college has spoken forcefully, and democratically. Nonetheless, the struggle continues in fighting for reasonable campaign finance reform and GWU Democracy Matters will continue that fight. And, in the words of President Obama, "Don't get cynical".

At $50 million and counting, Missouri's gubernatorial election is the most expensive in the country. A ballot measure could reimpose contribution limits after getting rid of them in 2008.

The foundation of a government for, by, and of the people necessitates a level of trust and accountability in the electoral process in order to ensure that the will of the people is heard, however disagreeable that may be. It is incumbent upon each generation to accept and renew this basic premise of American democracy and continue the great tradition, inaugurated by this country, of a peaceful transference of power because not only does this election matter, but democracy matters as well.

GW Democracy Matters is proudly partnering with GW Students Against Sexual Assault in the GW Statistic Campaign 2016 to spotlight that more than 50% of college sexual assaults occur in August, September, October, or November.

GW Students Against Sexual Assault has partnered with student organizations across campus to debunk myths, spread information, share resources, and combat sexual and relationship violence through the GW Statistic Campaign 2016.

This year, we are raising awareness of the fact that more than 50 percent of college sexual assaults occur in either August, September, October, or November.

Please support the campaign by:
- Joining the conversation! Share and like with and on Facebook and Twitter. SASA and other student organizations will be posting throughout the week to provide resources and awareness.
- Changing your profile picture to the official co-sponsorship poster.
- Attending our Trusting Statistics event on Tuesday, October 18 at 8:30.

If you or a friend needs help, GW's Sexual Assault Response Consultative (SARC) Team is here to help, 24/7. Call (202) 994-7222 or email [email protected]. If you’d like to privately and confidentially talk to a fellow student, GW Students Against Sexual Assault holds office hours weekly in Marvin Center Room 439.
