What’s soooo loud and obvious for all those who have volunteered there time and resources to help there communities where they live…., it’s disgusting, hypocritical and misleading, that “black” intellectuals, politicians, and preachers are saying nothing action oriented and directional!!! Absolutely NO leadership! Why? Most are selfish, greedy, immoral cowards, they are paid by the same system that uses “black” faces (usually not indigenous America) to broadcast a false image of who I AM! These leaders in positions of power in the last 30 years are silent as they personally profited from the anti-family / Anti-Black Man images that are consistently untrue and generally destructive.
First hold the fake “@&&! Leaders in our community/churches/universities/etc. accountable for the negative gains in economics, education and health…then complain cause Trump (being who Trump is) is using an ignorant stripper/street chic / passport hoe to speak/Rep for BLACK Woman. (Wait…didn’t the Democrats do the same thing during the campaign?).
Where are the collegiate orgs and groups? The black bourgeois is silent?
Thus……. The propaganda continues
Sometimes a metaphor hits so obvious it’s hard to unsee.
Nicki Minaj stood up there praising Trump looking like a whole sheep — wrapped in that giant fluffy white fur.
But we know what we were really watching: a wolf in costume.
Shucking and jiving for a Trump Gold Card… her little “ticket to freedom”… no matter who it confuses or hurts on the way there.
And my first thought wasn’t even anger.
It was sadness.
Because I know what some of our kids are going to do with that image.
They’re going to file it away as:
“See… even SHE rocking with him.”
“See… maybe it’s not that deep.”
“See… if somebody that famous supports him, he can’t be that bad.”
And that’s how influence works.
Not through facts.
Through signals.
Nicki isn’t dangerous because she’s a human being with opinions.
Nicki is dangerous because she’s a shortcut.
A shortcut some kids use to decide what’s true, what’s safe, what’s cool, what’s “power.”
And we’ve seen that shortcut before.
Back on the plantation, everybody with Black skin wasn’t on the same side.
Not all skinfolk were kinfolk.
There were folks who learned quick:
“If I stay close to the master… I can eat better.”
“If I repeat his story… I can sleep safer.”
“If I help keep the others in line… I can earn a little privilege.”
That wasn’t ancient history.
That was a playbook.
And today it wears makeup and designer.
Today it gets called:
“Networking.”
“Brand deals.”
“Strategic alignment.”
“Protecting my bag.”
Same spirit. New outfit.
And I need every parent to understand this part:
The greatest weapon that system ever had wasn’t the whip.
It was confusion.
It was getting us to look at the “house” and think it was freedom.
It was getting us to mistake proximity for power.
It was training us to follow whoever looks successful… instead of whoever is solid.
That’s why moments like this matter for our children.
Because our kids are learning what “confidence” is from celebrities.
And celebrity confidence is often just:
loudness without substance
sexualization without self-respect
attitude without accountability
“I’m rich so I must be right”
“I’m famous so I must be free”
But real confidence?
Real confidence is a child who knows who they are when nobody is clapping.
Real confidence is a young Black boy who doesn’t fold when the room wants him to shrink.
Real confidence is a young Black girl who doesn’t need attention to feel valuable.
Real confidence is discernment.
And discernment only comes from one place:
HOME.
Not TikTok.
Not the radio.
Not the algorithm.
Home.
Because when a child knows their history, they gain something the world can’t sell them:
A mind that recognizes patterns.
History gives our kids X-ray vision:
“This looks like divide-and-conquer.”
“This looks like a bribe.”
“This looks like propaganda wrapped in entertainment.”
“This looks like somebody dancing for a seat at a table that was never built for the people.”
And without that history?
They’ll chase whatever looks shiny.
They’ll confuse popularity with truth.
They’ll get wooed by people out for personal gain.
That’s why we do what we do at Urban Intellectuals.
I don’t just want your child to memorize facts.
I want your child to be unbuyable.
Unwooed.
Unprogrammable.
The kind of child who sees a celebrity praising power and automatically asks:
“What are they getting for that?”
“Who benefits if I believe this?”
“What’s the real play?”
So if you’ve been feeling that pit in your stomach watching the culture shape your child’s mind…
don’t just complain about it.
Out-teach it.
