We invite you to participate in the 11th Annual AGOA CSO Network Spring Conference. This year’s program will address strategies for strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the United States and Africa during the America First Era.
Conference sessions will examine labor and employment standards, non-tariff barriers contributing to trade imbalances, and policy reforms in both regions aimed at attracting investment and promoting greater private-sector engagement. The event will convene policymakers, labor organizations, civil society representatives, and private sector leaders from the United States and Africa.

On February 3, 2026, President Trump signed legislation reauthorizing the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) through December 31, 2026, with benefits retroactive to September 30, 2025. Ambassador Greer stated that a modernized AGOA should expand market access for U.S. producers and strengthen U.S.–Africa trade in accordance with the administration’s America First Trade Policy. USTR will work with federal agencies to update the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule as needed. Fred Oladeinde, Chairman of the AGOA Civil Society Organization Network, welcomed the retroactive extension and noted that aligning AGOA with America First principles can promote job creation and help reduce inflation and poverty in both the United States and Africa.

On February 3, 2026, the FDA signed a cooperative agreement in Kinshasa, DRC, to expand job opportunities and promote inclusive employment. This partnership with the Ministry of Employment and Labour, The Foundation for Democracy in Africa (FDA), and the Syndicate of Christian Support (SEC) demonstrates our commitment to socio-economic development and poverty reduction. The U.S. House of Representatives has officially passed the AGOA Extension Act (H.R. 6500). This bipartisan vote brings AGOA closer to a 2028 renewal. The bill will proceed to the Senate, and if approved, will be sent to President Donald J. Trump for signature. This marks a significant milestone for U.S.–Africa trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

The AGOA Civil Society Network will continue to monitor developments and keep stakeholders informed.
