2026 Tax Lien Sale Postponed‼️

The 2026 Tax Lien Sale scheduled to start on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, has been POSTPONED until Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Individual Income Taxpayers:

You must pay quarterly DC estimated taxes if:
• You live in DC and your gross income isn’t fully withheld, and
• You expect your DC tax liability will be greater than $100.00.

If you are required to remit estimated tax payments, use Estimated Payment for Individual Income Tax vouchers (Form D 40ES) to submit your payments by the following deadlines:
• April 15; and
• June 15; and
• September 15; and
• January 15; or equivalent fiscal periods.

D-40ES vouchers for the current tax year can be found online by navigating to the “Forms” menu, or by visiting MyTax.DC.gov to remit your payment electronically.

Business Taxpayers
Every corporation, financial institution, and unincorporated business required to file a DC tax return must pay estimated taxes if the tax liability for the year is more than $1,000.00.
Estimated tax payments can be remitted by corporations using Declaration of Estimated Franchise Tax for Corporations vouchers (form D 20ES), and unincorporated businesses can use Declaration of Estimated Franchise Tax for Unincorporated Businesses vouchers (form D 30ES) by navigating to the “Forms” menu, or by visiting MyTax.DC.gov to remit its payment electronically. Estimated tax payments are due:

Calendar Year Filers:
• April 15; and
• June 15; and
• September 15; and
• December 15

Fiscal Filers:
• The fifteenth day of the fourth month of your taxable year;
• The fifteenth day of the sixth month of your taxable year;
• The fifteenth day of the ninth month of your taxable year; and
• The fifteenth day of the twelfth month of your taxable year.

The Tax Lien Sale seminars for the 2026 Tax Lien Sale will be conducted as follows:

Wednesday, June 24th: 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday, June 25th: 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration for the Tax Lien Sale seminars is open from June 10 through June 22. Instructions for registering for a seminar are as follows:

Click on Real Property>View More Options>Tax Sale Registration>Register for Tax Sale Seminar

Note: A Microsoft Teams invitation link will be sent to the email you have provided at the time of registration, a day prior to the scheduled event. Please also note: A person with a communication impairment requiring an interpreter must submit their request via MyTax.DC.gov no later than June 17, 2026, for the June 24, 2026, sessions and June 18, 2026, for the June 25, 2026, sessions.

DC’s tax filing season officially opened yesterday, and as you prepare your return, it’s important to know your rights as a taxpayer.

Under the DC Taxpayer Bill of Rights, you are entitled to:
• The right to be informed
• The right to quality service
• The right to pay no more than the correct amount due
• The right to challenge the District’s position and be heard
• The right to have disputes independently reviewed
• The right to finality
• The right to privacy
• The right to confidentiality
• The right to representation
• The right to a fair and just tax system
