The PHN Global Health Committee extends an invitation for your abstract to be presented at the 2026 Annual APHA Confrence and Expo, PHN Global Health Invited Session. below:

The American Public Health Association in conjunction with the Public Health Nursing -Global Health Session are now accepting abstract submissions for oral presentations for the Annual Meeting and Expo in San Antonio, Texas November 1-4, 2026. Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts via email to me based on the meeting theme — Making the Public’s Health a National Priority — and current and emerging public health issues.

Abstract Notification — Presenters will be notified via email of abstract status on Tuesday, June 20, 2026
Each abstract will be blind reviewed by the 2026 PHN Global Health Committee.

All abstracts will be blind-reviewed by 2-3 reviewers from the PHN Global Health session using the following criteria:
Relevance of the issue
Innovative strategies
Soundness of the science
Substantive nature of the work
Compelling conclusions

Continuing Education Credit
APHA values the ability to provide continuing education credit to physicians, nurses, health educators, veterinarians, and those certified in public health at its annual meeting. Please complete all required information when submitting an abstract so members can claim credit for attending your session. These credits are necessary for members to keep their licenses and credentials.
For a session to be eligible for Continuing Education Credit, each presenter must provide:
An abstract free of trade and/or commercial product names
At least one MEASURABLE outcomes (DO NOT USE “To understand” or “To learn” as objectives, they are not measurable). Examples of Acceptable Measurable Action Words: Explain, Demonstrate, Analyze, Formulate, Discuss, Compare, Differentiate, Describe, Name, Assess, Evaluate, Identify, Design, Define or List.
A signed Conflict of Interest (Disclosure) form with a relevant Qualification Statement. See an example of an acceptable Qualification Statement on the online Disclosure form.

We will present these prestigious awards at the 2026 APHA Annual Meeting and Expo, Nov. 1-4 in San Antonio.

The deadline for nominations is April 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

APHA Award for Excellence - Honors an individual for creative work in applying scientific knowledge or innovation to improve community health.
Ayman El-Mohandes Young Professional Public Health Innovation Award - Recognizes an APHA member who is making a significant, innovative contribution to the field of public health.
David P. Rall Award for Advocacy - Recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to public health through science-based advocacy.
Giorgio A. Piccagli Leadership Award - Recognizes an APHA student or early career professional who demonstrates outstanding leadership and initiative.
Helen Rodriguez-Trias Award - Recognizes an individual who has worked toward social justice for underserved and disadvantaged populations.
Lyndon Haviland Public Health Mentoring Award - Recognizes an APHA member for an essential role of mentoring in public health and leadership development.
Martha May Eliot Award - Honors a professional in the field of maternal and child health.
Milton and Ruth Roemer Prize - Honors a health officer of a county, city or other unit of local government in recognition of outstanding creative and innovative public health work.
Sedgwick Memorial Medal - Recognizes an individual for outstanding accomplishments in the field of public health and is APHA’s oldest and most prestigious honor.
Sommer Klag Advocacy Achievement Award - Recognizes one full-time academic faculty member for significant achievement in the area of public health advocacy.
Victor Sidel and Barry Levy Award for Peace - Honors an APHA member who has made outstanding contributions to preventing war and promoting international peace.

Celebrate National Nurses Week and the Power of Nurses, as NINR launches its Early-Stage Investigator Lecture Series, spotlighting emerging scientists whose work is shaping the future of nursing science and improving lives in meaningful ways. The inaugural lecture on May 7 at 2 PM ET will feature Dr. Jane Muir, Assistant Professor at University of Pennsylvania’s School of Nursing, sharing insights from her research focused on identifying nursing models of care that facilitates accessible and timely care outcomes for all patients receiving care in community-facing settings.
