On this feast of the great Mother Teresa, we invite all to the Shrine to visit our current temporary exhibits: "Works of Love are Works of Peace," a photo collection of Mother Teresa by Michael Collopy, and our JPII in America exhibit, "A New Birth of Freedom."

We continue to celebrate the friendship of these tremendous disciples of Christ and the significant pastoral influence St. John Paul II had on the life of Mother Teresa. (The Pope beatified the Missionary of Charity foundress October 19, 2003 on World Mission Sunday, just six years after her death.)

Today is the Feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta! In her response to Christ’s cry, “I thirst,” in his longing for souls, and born of her constant contemplation of the love of Jesus on the Cross, she allowed His grace to transform her life into a total gift for others — bearing fruits of peace and joy, thereby showing us the meaning to our life and our path to authentic happiness. May this great 'Mother of faith' and friend in the 'dark' intercede for us on our own paths to Christ.
