The Institute for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning provides management, development, research,and educational services to support equal educational opportunity to all children and peoples. (Nonprofit) offers free tutoring through our A-STEP After-School Tutoring and Enrichment Program in Public School and Public Libraries to students whose parents cannot afford the high cost of a private t
utor to support their child's academic needs, to help them experience school success.
-The Institute also offers free College Prep counseling and assistance to high school students for finding scholarship funds and in writing their application to college and to obtain scholarships. The Institute has created a " Pipeline To College, Not Prison."
-The Institute sponsors the YAE Clubs of America for young school-aged artists. The Young Artists as Entrepreneurs Clubs of America provides students experiences in auctioning and selling their artistic creations through participation in at least one Art Show and Silent Auction each year, as well as exposure to well-known artist and their entrepreneurial experiences. A major goal of YAE Clubs of America is to have students and their families see art as a viable career option. The Institute developed the YAE Clubs of America to give young artist an option to seeing graffiti as their only options for displaying their artwork. YAE Clubs are being chartered in many school districts.
-The Institute provides Child Advocacy services to parents of handicapped and educationally challenged children.Having participated in the writing of the original Education of the Handicapped Act, PL 94-142 and serving with Mrs.Eunice Shriver in the formation of the Special Olympics, our staff has extensive experiences in the education of exceptional children, as well as policy development in this area.
