Hurricane Beryl
With wind gusts of up to 165 miles per hour, hurricane Beryl was a deadly and destructive Category 5 Atlantic hurricane that impacted several countries in the Caribbean region (FYI: Barbados, Windward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Yucatan Peninsula and Central United States). Estimated losses are US$6 billion with twenty-eight fatalities.
The people of the Caribbean region are strong and resilient! These were some of the sentiments expressed by people we spoke with during this challenging time.
With everything that is taking place in the world today, now is the time for the Caribbean diaspora and region to come together as one to build a new future for tomorrow. We have had hurricanes in the past and will continue to see more in the future. In some cases, it takes years for some countries in the Caribbean to recover and rebuild their homes, communities, economies, and lives.
Let us not forget the power of the diaspora to overcome challenges and pave a new way in times of stress, loss, and uncertainty. The Caribbean Returning Nationals Foundation is a trusted partner and gateway into the affairs and activities of the region. We can work with large, medium, and micro businesses to help with their recovery plans to ensure stability, profitability, and sustainability. Small family-owned businesses play a vital role in bringing homes and communities together.
