Last night, Americans across the country came out in record numbers to have their voice heard. There were several devastating losses, some gratifying victories and, even today, several unresolved races.
Unfortunately. We fell short of our goal to win the Ward 1 seat for the DC SBOE.
Just saying thank you to my friends and supporters who had my back throughout this campaign seems inadequate. You supported our campaign financially, volunteered your time and helped promote our candidacy. You embraced our vision for quality schools and the idea that ALL kids should have access to a quality education, regardless of their race, zip code or socioeconomic status.
I ran with the idea that all families should have an authentic voice in the room when discussions around the education of our kids are taking place. I remain convinced that my skills, decade long history in this community and long list of results and accomplishments presented the best opportunity to achieve that goal. It’s a goal that I will never abandon and I’ll continue to fight for our kids.
I’m proud of the campaign we ran. We focused on the issues, stayed above the fray and did our best not to be distracted by nonsense - and there was plenty of it. But at the end of the day, the voters of Ward 1 have spoken.
To Callie Kozlak, thank you for running an issue- focused campaign and for bringing your passion and commitment to this race.
To Emily Gasoi - I offer my congratulations and wish you the best of luck. Your success is directly tied to the success of our kids and that is a goal for which I am unwaveringly committed.
To my family, thanks for everything you did to support me and this campaign...from my dad knocking on doors to my 5 year old niece at the polls saying “vote for my Uncle Jason.”
Thanks again everyone...the work continues!
