On day 1, Administrator Loeffler showed the Trump admin’s goal is to advance a partisan agenda, not help small businesses. The threat to divert small business resources away from Boston over immigration policies is callous, cruel, and contradictory to SBA’s mission.

Small business owners in these communities, through no fault of their own, will pay the cost of these arbitrary actions while already dealing with the negative impact of ICE raids in their communities.

Ranking Member Markey will fight to keep resources for small business in Boston and in sanctuary cities, while also ensuring rural entrepreneurs have the resources they need to overcome unique challenges.

Partisan politics should not jeopardize small business funding or resources. For the sake of our local communities and national economy, Administrator Loeffler needs to stop creating chaos and uncertainty for America’s small businesses.

“When folks are not showing up to work out of fear, when folks are not frequenting these businesses out of fear, of course the impact on the local economy can be devastating.”
