Friends of  Pythagoras Lodge #9 PHA To serve and uplift the community by making good men better Thornton A Jackson was the founder of Pythagoras Lodge. United Grand Lodge F. & A.M. W.

Pythagoras
Lodge was chartered and constituted as Pythagoras Lodge #12 by the
W.M. (PHA) of the jurisdiction of
Maryland on June 5, 1871. Thornton Jackson was appointed as
Worshipful Master. All of the founding brethren were members of Warren Lodge # 8 (DC). On December 27, 1871 Pythagoras Lodge was rechartered
Pythagoras Lodge #9 by the M.W. Acacia Grand Lodge of DC under the
leadership of

M.W. Grand Master John F. Cook, Right Worshipful Deputy
Grand Master Andrew B. Tinney, and Right Worshipful Grand Secretary
John Goins. The officers of the reelected lodge were as follows
Arthur. Tancil, Worshipful Master, John L. Burill, Senior Warden
and John W Dorster, Junior Warden. Throughout its history, Pythagoras Lodge #9 has always laid emphasis
on stalwart character and performance. Its ritualistic work has always
been of high quality.
