ABA President Patricia Lee Refo sent a letter to Senate leadership today urging swift consideration of legislation just passed by the House to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act. Our Center for Public Interest Law colleagues in the ABA Death Penalty Representation Project placed the case and supported the pro bono lawyers from Crowell & Moring who secured the release of a former death row inmate earlier this week. The Death Penalty Representation Project truly embodies the ABA motto of “Defending Liberty, Pursuing Justice.”

A former death row inmate in Florida told reporters Thursday that he thanked God and his legal team for his release from prison.
